question i got asked most yesterday, "how do you feel?"
i guess i just feel old. i'm 22... wow... I'M 22?!?!
come to think of it, it's a different feeling than any other number i've turned in the past. besides the obvious significance of the 18th and 21st years, every year was a year closer to "adulthood," and that in itself seems to have brought excitement and anticipation.
but after having passed the legal age to drink, which interestingly seems to imply the passage into adulthood for many, having become an adult is now old news, and i suspect this sense of aging will only increase as the years go by.
i want to say thanks to all who have made yesterday memorable for me. including those who've e-mailed or called and all of you on the video tape. =)
but i do want to say a special thanks to some of you:
mike: it seems from the video tape that a lot of your help was used in the making of it. thank you!! (HOWEVER, i did NOT appreciate the bit you guys slipped in at the end.... of the EYE. that was NOT COOL.) you are one fun and cool dongseng to know! and also... thanks for putting up with the high-pitched ;) murmur in the room at nights while you're trying to go to sleep. for that, i will continue to try to protect you from chris' inappropriate touching. =)
shrek, doc, punk: thanks eric, for being the kind of friend you are to me. you know how much i confide in you and am encouraged by our friendship. but more than that, i am encouraged and many times humbled by your willingness to sacrifice yourself for God and others around you. thanks for your words of wisdom and encouragement and for the countless number of laughs when i needed them most. and of course, i can't forget the kind of role you played in the way God showed his providence this past year. you know what i'm talking about. ;)
jenny: where to start... from our old vbs times or from when you thought i was the biggest snob when we reunited in high school? =) wherever and however it started, one thing is clear: you have become one of my most special friends. one that i can rely on for most anything... from... an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, a fun time, a nice laugh, someone to share both good and bad news with... to an ice cream buddy! you're like a sister to me, and i love you.
my most special guy friend: i also save the best for last. ;) there's so much i want to say, and amongst those things... i just want to say thanks for a great birthday. i'm amazed at how much thought you put into everything... from the kind of flowers down to the cake with the kind of ice cream i like. and the video tape... you made me tear up and laugh at the same time. YOU are one of a kind, and i can't ask for a better person to walk with me in this wonderful journey of courtship. as paul said on the video, i am one lucky gal, eh? =D
